Choosing the Right Contractor

Buyer Beware!!

It is harder to pick a good contractor then one may think. As not all contractors are the same. And a less suspecting customer will find out the hard way. Ask these simple questions before doing business with a Heating and A/C contractor…

  • First and probably most important, do they stand behind their work, and what are their Warranties and Guarantees*?
  • What are the companies hiring practices? Do you know who you’re inviting in your home? Are you safe?
  • What kind of Service do they offer and do they even have a service department? Do they offer True 24 Hour Service?
  • Does the company have any type of training requirement and continuing education?
  • How do you properly choose a contractor to purchase a heating & a/c system?
  • Do they provide upfront pricing on repairs and equipment replacements or are you stuck paying for poorly organized companies or untrained technicians?
  • How long has the company been in business and can they provide you with a list of testimonials?
  • Are they specialists in their related field(s) or do they claim to be all things to all people, kind of a jack of all trades?
  • Are they properly licensed to do this work and do they pull the necessary permits required?

At JD Vigil Heating & Air Conditioning

All these questions and more are answered. Each year we end up fixing problems caused by other contactors poor installation or lacking service skills which cost’s unsuspecting customers up to twice as much or more. If they had only hired the right guy the first time these problems could be avoided.

Remember the sweet joy of a low price is often followed by the bitter taste of disappointment, when the job you paid for is incapable of doing that which it was intended to do. It is unwise to pay too much, however, if you pay too little you stand to lose everything because the job you paid for is incapable of doing that which you paid for. However, if you pay too much all you lose is a little money that is all, therefore it is worth the gamble to pay more than expected to pay less then you should have in the long run.
